Your Journey Begins: First Weeks in Saint John Region as a Newcomer

The The Saint John Newcomers Centre (SJNC) will be joining us for this webinar and providing a general overview of a client’s journey from pre-arrival to post arrival.

The topics that will be covered are:

Pre-Arrival:
-Connecting with an immigrant serving organization
-Translating all documents that are not in English
-Purchasing health insurance
-Arranging temporary accommodation

Post Arrival:
-Getting a phone number to ease communication
-Getting a bus pass for transportation or downloading the Apps
-Opening a bank account
-Getting a SIN
-Commence active search for permanent accommodation
-Re-connecting with an immigrant serving organization to conduct a needs assessment
-Arranging school or daycare placement for kids if required
-Job search and accessing support from SPO
-Connecting with peer groups and building your network
