Working in the Arts for Newcomers – Networking Event

FreeWorkInCulture is collaborating with NotWorking to Networking (N2N) to co-host a fun, meaningful, and engaging networking experience for newcomer and immigrant artists and arts professionals.
This in-person networking session is part of WorkInCulture’s Working in the Arts: Resources and Pathways for Newcomers which provides access to information and resources to help support newcomer and immigrant artists and arts professionals achieve career success in Toronto/GTA and beyond!
Registration is required and spaces are limited!
To prepare for the networking activities, we will ask a few questions in the registration form to get to know you a bit better. Please feel free to provide the information you are most comfortable sharing.
This networking event is open to:
- Newcomer and immigrant artists and arts workers/professionals of any cultural or ethnic background, or nationality, and at any stage of their careers or settlement process.
- Newcomer and immigrant artists and arts professionals that are looking for advice and contacts to help support their arts career.
- Newcomer and immigrant artists and arts professionals who want to share their arts career advice and resources with others!
- Toronto/GTA based newcomer and immigrant artists and arts professionals, or individuals looking to eventually make connections with Toronto/GTA communities.
Doors open at 6pm!
Light refreshments will be provided!
We’re excited to work with NotWorking to Networking, an organization that hosts fun and intimate weekly industry-specific meetups (in Spanish) for Latinos in Canada who want to grow their professional network and help others in the process. Since 2021, N2N has hosted almost 100 networking meet-ups and have served over 1500 Latinx attendees since inception. To learn more, visit them here: NotWorking to Networking

About our lead facilitator: Stephan Dyer
Originally from Costa Rica, Stephan Dyer is an award-winning bilingual comedian, keynote speaker and corporate leadership and communication trainer. Leaving his executive position in the banking world in 2017 to pursue his professional career in stand up comedy, he successfully co-founded MalPensando, a bilingual comedy school in Canada, and the reTHINK Group, its corporate training company, which has grown to include clients in 16 countries including Canada, Switzerland, England, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, and the United States.
Stephan has performed in 9 countries and appeared on Comedy Central, The Second City, TEDx, and some of the world’s largest comedy festivals. In 2021, Stephan was awarded the Distinguished Toastmaster Award (DTM) and was featured on the cover of Toastmaster Magazine, the largest public speaking magazine in the world, distributed to over 364,000 members across 143 countries.
Stephan is currently an instructor at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies where he delivers the course “Business Presentations and Public Speaking”. He is the proud founder of NotWorking to Networking, a not-for-profit organization that has helped thousands of Latinxs in Canada achieve meaningful jobs.
