Hosted by Capital Rainbow Refuge in partnership with Refugee 613, the Ottawa LGBTQI+ Newcomer Support Forum, will address the unique challenges that this population faces in Ottawa and will provide a space to explore how we can create solutions together as a community.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness of the unique challenges and barriers LGBTQI+ newcomers face in Ottawa
- Understand service gaps and opportunities
- Learn about LGBTQI+ services in Ottawa and where clients can access support
- Learn about trauma-informed, ethical and sensitive service delivery with newcomers
- Build solidarity and strengthen networks of people and organizations committed to support LGBTQI+ refugees and newcomers
- Leave with concrete ideas for better partnerships and ways to work together.
