SUMMARY:Design Jam: Improving Mental Health Education for Newcomer Communities
DESCRIPTION:A collaborative event that invites immigrants\, refugees\, and international residents to shape culturally responsive mental health resources. \n\n\n\n\nHow can mental health education and supports better reflect the experiences of people building a new life in Newfoundland and Labrador? \nDesign Jam is a collaborative\, community-driven event that invites immigrants\, refugees\, international residents\, and others with lived experience of settling in Newfoundland and Labrador to share their perspectives and help shape more accessible and culturally responsive mental health resources. \nIn a welcoming and inclusive environment\, participants will have an opportunity to: \n\nShare experiences and perspectives related to mental health and well-being\nIdentify barriers to accessing information\, services\, and support\nExplore gaps in current mental health education\nGenerate practical ideas for improving programs and resources\nConnect with community organizations and service providers\n\nThe event will also bring together service provider organizations to strengthen partnerships\, encourage collaboration\, and explore innovative solutions informed by the people and communities they serve. \nThrough open conversation and collective problem-solving\, Design Jam aims to help create a more connected\, inclusive\, and supportive Newfoundland and Labrador—where everyone can access mental health information and support that reflects their needs and experiences. \nFood and refreshments will be provided. \nParticipants will also receive a $50 consultation honorarium in recognition of their time\, contributions\, and valuable insights. \nSteering Success: Mental Health Education for Newcomers & Employers\, generously funded by Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
