SUMMARY:Disability Inclusion: Newcomers with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:How can organizations better serve and support newcomers with disabilities? How can the settlement and disability sectors build partnerships? Why are these partnerships important? Join us as we explore these questions and more through a partner presentation\, panel discussion\, and information fair at the University of Toronto Scarborough on November 17th from 8:30am- 12:30pm. \nParticipants can expect to: \n\nAttend a panel discussion on lived experiences\, challenges and recommendations\nLearn how your organization can support newcomers with disabilities\nNetwork with community partners across the settlement and disability sectors\n\nSpeaker List & Bios Coming Soon \nWhat to Bring: \n\nNotebook and pens\nBusiness cards\nEagerness to learn and connect!\n\nAccessibility Statement: \nThe event will be held in Room MW130\, in the Social Sciences building at the University of Scarborough which is at the intersection of Ellesmere Road and Military Trail. The address is 1265 Military Trail\, Scarborough M1C 1A4. There is a map of the University attached. \nPublic washrooms are located which include wheelchair accessible stalls. An all-gender washroom is available. Lighting in the event room may be dimmed. \nFor accommodation requests\, including ASL\, please indicate during registration. Please indicate in the registration if you need accessible parking.\nExtra parking is available in Parking lot G\, near the intersection of Military Trail and Ellesmere Road.\nAll entrances are accessible and the path from parking lot C to the venue is flat and even.\n\nPlease note that photos and videos will be taken at this event and shared. \nThe Newcomers Accessibility Council (NAC) is a governance council developed in partnership between the Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership and the Durham Local Immigration Partnership.
