SUMMARY:Information Session: Professional Access into Employment (PAIE)
DESCRIPTION:Led by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA)\, PAIE is an innovative bridge training program that helps internationally-trained environmental professionals launch their careers in Engineering\, Geoscience\, Environmental Science and Planning. \nThe PAIE Program empowers participants with an increased understanding of the local labour market and supports participants as they pursue their goals of obtaining employment and gaining the Canadian experience required for professional licensing and certifications. \nPAIE offers Participants: \n– Employment and job search coaching \n– Over 130 hours of professions-specific and soft skills training \n– Access to a mentor in their field \n– Post-hire and retention support from staff \nProgram Accomplishments: \n– 550+ Participants served since 2006 \n– Over 150 Stakeholders supporting the program \n– Strong partnerships in the community \n– We are proud to report an average of 80% employment success rate for our participants \nJoin this session to learn more about this program. SUMMARY:Employment Services for Newcomers Collaborative Forum
DESCRIPTION:Calling all employment programs\, recruiting agencies\, HR departments\, and employers to this panel discussion and collaborative forum on newcomer employment. Learn from newcomer experiences\, established and emerging local solutions\, and each other. \nThe afternoon will begin with a panel representing a local employment program\, employer\, settlement supports\, and newcomers to Canada who will speak to their personal experiences as employees and job-seekers navigating local labour markets. There will be panel Q & A\, before leading into small group collaborative discussions with peers to explore best practices\, common challenges\, opportunities for cooperation and innovation in the labour market. \nParticipants in this discussion will gain: \n-stronger connections to sector peers\, \n-deeper understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by newcomer job-seekers\, \n– opportunity to influence the design and implementation of future sector-specific collaborative events \nPlease indicate any dietary restrictions upon registration so that we can accommodate with specialized lunch options. Gluten free option – Will be prepared first and individually packaged to avoid cross contamination. \nPlease note that this event is not intended for individuals seeking employment or access to direct services\, but for service providers and employers connecting with one another for professional development and information sharing. \nThis event is hosted in partnership with the Fraser Valley Refugee Readiness Team\, with the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Municpal Affairs. \nThe Chilliwack Local Immigration Partnership is generously funded by Chilliwack Community Services\, and by Immigration\, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
